Crimestoppers, an independent charity, has renewed its appeal for information regarding the tragic death of a newborn baby whose body was discovered in Spen Brook, off Carr Lane, Kirkham, on October 1, 2011.

In a bid to bring closure to the heart-wrenching case, the charity is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the identification of the mother or clarification of the circumstances surrounding the baby’s abandonment.

The infant, laid to rest in St Michael’s Churchyard without a name, has remained a poignant and unsolved mystery for 13 years, deeply affecting the local community.

Crimestoppers is urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward anonymously.

“This heartbreaking case has deeply affected the community of Kirkham and West Lancashire,” said Gary Murray, North West Regional Manager at Crimestoppers.

“We hope this renewed appeal and reward will encourage anyone with information to come forward anonymously.

Someone must know what happened – perhaps they aided the mother or she confided in them afterwards. It’s vital that the mother receives the help and support she needs.”

The charity acknowledges the sensitive nature of the case and the potential difficulties individuals may face in speaking directly to the police.

Crimestoppers offers a safe, anonymous channel for information to be shared.

“For 13 years, someone has carried the weight of knowing what transpired that day,” Murray added. “By reaching out to us, they can relieve that burden and help tell the story of both the baby and the mother.

We understand that speaking directly to the police can be difficult for some, which is why Crimestoppers is here.

With time, we hope it becomes easier for those with information to share what they know. We’ve guaranteed anonymity since our inception, and we honour that promise.”

Crimestoppers guarantees complete anonymity for those who provide information.

Individuals can contact the charity by calling 0800 555 111 or by filling out an anonymous online form on their website.

The charity’s renewed appeal emphasizes the importance of providing closure for the community and ensuring that the mother receives the necessary support.

Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to come forward, knowing that their identity will remain completely confidential.
