A man who preyed on a sleeping woman during a flight from Qatar to Gatwick Airport has been found guilty of multiple sexual assault charges, shocking both passengers and authorities.

Momade Jussab was convicted of one count of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault, following a harrowing ordeal for the victim.

The victim, whose identity is being protected for legal reasons, was asleep during the flight when Jussab committed the offences.

Upon landing, she reported the incident, triggering an immediate investigation by Sussex Police. Specially-trained officers provided crucial support to the victim throughout the process.

Detective Constable Kate Bailey from the Crawley Safeguarding Investigations Unit expressed the gravity of the crime, stating,

“This was a deeply distressing experience for the victim, who was violated in a place where she should have felt safe.

We commend her bravery in coming forward.”

“We encourage all victims of sexual offences to come forward and report their experience to the police.

We will treat all reports with the utmost sensitivity and professionalism,” Bailey added.

Jussab now faces a significant custodial sentence, with his sentencing hearing scheduled for next month.

The verdict has sent shockwaves through the travelling community, highlighting the vulnerability of passengers during long-haul flights.
