Over 100 cannabis plants have been seized by neighbourhood officers and the Task Force in Skelmersdale following a Misuse of Drugs warrant.
One man has been arrested and an investigation is underway.
The operation, conducted under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, resulted in the discovery of a significant cannabis cultivation site.
Police also found that the property’s electrical mains had been dangerously bypassed, posing a serious fire risk to neighbouring homes.
Electricity North West has since rectified the hazardous wiring.
Lancashire Police emphasized the seriousness of cannabis cultivation, addressing common misconceptions about the drug.
“It’s not ‘just a bit of weed’ and whatever your views, we will continue to tackle it in our community. It is ILLEGAL, encourages gangs, violence, exploitation of vulnerable people and funds other criminality and this wont be tolerated,” the police stated.
The force highlighted the link between cannabis production and organized crime, vowing to continue disrupting illegal drug manufacturing and distribution.
“We will continue to disrupt organised crime and the illegal manufacturing and distribution of currently illegal substances,” they asserted.
Police are urging anyone with information about cannabis cultivation, drug dealing, or manufacturing to come forward.
Residents can anonymously report information to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or contact their local Neighbourhood Police Team via Lancashire Talking.
The police concluded their statement with the hashtags #InTheKnow and #YouSaidWeDid, indicating their commitment to community engagement and action based on public feedback.
