Blackpool residents, tired of the buzz and whine of illegal off-road and electric bikes, have finally seen some action.

The local constabulary, answering the public’s exasperated cries of “Sort them out before I do…”, launched a joint operation this weekend, and it seems they’ve been busy!

The Specialist Operations Team, alongside the Neighbourhood Policing Team, descended upon the town’s hotspots, deploying a motley crew of pursuit-trained officers, plain-clothed bike specialists, and good old-fashioned uniformed foot patrols.

Their mission? To silence the rogue riders and seize their illegal steeds.

And seize they did! A whopping 30 bikes, ranging from noisy pit bikes to suspiciously souped-up e-bikes, were rounded up and taken off the streets.

One individual even found themselves in hot water, arrested for possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, proving that illegal bikes can sometimes be the gateway to other, less-than-legal activities.

“We know many people enjoy off-road biking as a hobby,” a police spokesperson stated, “and we’re not here to spoil anyone’s fun.

But if you’re going to ride on public roads, do it legally. Make your bike roadworthy, ride sensibly, and everyone’s happy. It’s a win-win situation, like finding a tenner in your old jeans!”

The police also highlighted the dangers of illegal bikes, pointing out the potential for serious injuries, house fires due to dodgy electrics, and the unfortunate tendency for fed-up citizens to take the law into their own hands.

Not to mention, it ties up valuable police resources that could be used for, you know, catching actual criminals.

The operation was a direct result of public feedback, with the police thanking residents for their reports.

“Without your help, we wouldn’t know where to find these pedal-powered menaces,” the spokesperson added. “Keep those reports coming!”

If you have any information about illegal bike activity, you can report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

So, for now, the streets of Blackpool are a little quieter, and the residents are breathing a collective sigh of relief. Until the next wave of electric hooligans hits the tarmac, that is.
