A large fire broke out at a commercial building on Sett End Road West within the Shadsworth Business Park in Blackburn in the early hours of this morning, prompting a significant response from emergency services.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at 00:45, and have deployed a substantial team to tackle the blaze.
Ten fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms, and a firefighting robot are currently on site, battling the flames.
The incident has resulted in significant road closures in the surrounding area.
Lancashire Police have confirmed that Shadsworth Industrial Estate remains closed as firefighters work to contain the fire. Haslingden Road, which was initially closed, has since reopened but is operating under a single lane closure to allow emergency vehicles access.
A large plume of smoke is visible from the scene, prompting a public safety warning. Residents in the vicinity who can see or smell smoke are strongly advised to close all windows and doors to minimize exposure.
“We are urging people to avoid the Shadsworth Industrial Estate area if possible,” a spokesperson for Lancashire Police stated.
“Emergency services are working diligently to manage the situation, and road closures are in place to ensure their safety and efficiency.”
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time. Firefighters are continuing to work to extinguish the fire and assess the damage to the commercial building.
The fire is believed to have taken place at Tensar a world-leading manufacturer and provider of ground stabilization and soil reinforcement solutions.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
