Leeds police are appealing to the public for information following a disturbing attempted serious sexual offence in Rawdon.
The incident took place on Larkfield Road, near Rawdon Cricket Club, at approximately 11:30 PM on Friday, March 28th.
The victim, a woman in her forties, reported being attacked while walking towards Keelham Drive.
According to her account, she was pushed from behind, causing her to fall. The assailant then attempted to remove her jeans, leading to a struggle during which she was punched in the face.
Following the altercation, the suspect fled the scene, running along Larkfield Road towards Town Street.
The victim is currently receiving support from specially trained officers.
Detective Inspector Rebekah Tester of the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit expressed the seriousness of the incident and the ongoing investigation.
“We know this incident will be of concern to the communities of Rawdon and a full investigation is ongoing into what happened,” she stated.
“A man has been arrested in connection with this matter, but we really need people to come forward if they have any information or footage that may assist us with a positive identification of the suspect, who is described as a white man of medium build with brown or ginger hair.”
Police presence has been increased in the local area as officers continue to conduct inquiries.
DI Tester urged anyone with information or concerns to speak with officers at the earliest opportunity.
