A 19-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed at the Alexandra Road retail park earlier this afternoon (Sunday, March 30, 2025).
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage as they continue their investigation.
Emergency services were called to the retail park at approximately 3:25 PM following reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers found the young man with serious injuries. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Police are providing support to the victim and his family during this distressing time.
A significant police presence remains at the Alexandra Road retail park and surrounding areas as officers conduct a thorough investigation.
A cordon is in place as forensic teams collect evidence and detectives work to piece together the sequence of events.
Inspector Andrew Clayton addressed the public, stating,
“We understand this incident is shocking and took place in a very public space. We are working diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible.”
While no arrests have been made thus far, police are actively pursuing several lines of inquiry, including reviewing CCTV footage from the retail park and surrounding businesses.
Inspector Clayton added, “At this stage, we do believe the attack to be an isolated incident involving those known to one another.”
Officers have already spoken to a number of witnesses, but they are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or who possesses relevant information to come forward.
“We would encourage anyone who believes they have any information or dash cam footage which could assist our investigation, particularly that which may help us identify the perpetrators, to come forward,” Inspector Clayton said.
