Farmer Airlifted With Life-Threatening Injuries After Tractor Accident Near Pendleton

A serious accident involving a farmer and his tractor triggered a large multi-agency response near Pendleton.

The incident, reported as callout #29 for the local Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), occurred when the farmer’s tractor rolled approximately 20 meters down a gully on his own land, resulting in life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services were alerted, and a significant response was mobilized, including Mobile 1 and 2 from the MRT, along with other team members who proceeded directly to the scene.

The scale of the incident necessitated the involvement of multiple agencies, bringing together a diverse range of expertise to ensure the best possible outcome for the injured farmer.

The response included the Ambulance Service, Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Helimed (air ambulance), and the Police.

The coordinated effort allowed for comprehensive on-site treatment of the casualty, who had sustained severe injuries in the fall.

Following substantial medical intervention at the scene, the farmer was airlifted by Helimed to a specialized medical facility for further life-saving treatment.

A spokesperson for the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) stated,

“This was a huge multi-agency response, with the Ambulance Service, MRT, USAR, HART, Helimed, and Police all working together. Our thoughts are with the family, and we hope for the best possible outcome at this time.”

Due to the serious nature of the incident, no photographs were released.
