A 39-year-old man has been arrested after sending threatening emails to Halsnead Primary School in Whiston, Merseyside.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, March 27th, prompted a police investigation and caused concern among parents and the local community.

Merseyside Police received a report at approximately 10:10 am that the school, located on Pennywood Drive, had received email threats. Officers swiftly responded to the incident, leading to the arrest of the man on suspicion of malicious communications and possession of cannabis.

He is currently in custody and being questioned by detectives.

Local Policing Inspector Jen Murray addressed the community, stating,

“We understand the concern that such incidents cause to parents, carers, staff, pupils and the wider community. I want to assure people that there is no ongoing threat to the school or wider community.”

Inspector Murray also confirmed that officers are maintaining regular contact with the school to provide reassurance, support, and advice as the investigation continues.

She urged the public to refrain from sharing or posting comments that could potentially compromise the ongoing investigation.

“Although an arrest has been made, I would like to take this opportunity to ask that people do not post any comments or share posts which could jeopardise this live investigation. Instead, all information should be passed via the official channels and will form part of our enquiries,” she said.
