A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of six-week-old, Huxley Sayle, following a lengthy police investigation.

Lancashire Constabulary officers were called to an address in Squires Wood, Fulwood, at approximately 1:30 am on June 14, 2022, after reports that the infant had been taken to hospital with a serious head injury.

Tragically, Huxley Sayle succumbed to his injuries a month later, on July 14, 2022. A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be a traumatic head injury.

Peter Sayle, 31, of Squires Wood, Fulwood, was initially arrested on June 18, 2022, on suspicion of Section 18 wounding. He was subsequently re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

Following a detailed investigation and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Lancashire Constabulary confirmed that Peter Sayle was charged with Huxley’s murder on the evening of March 27, 2025.

He was remanded in custody and appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on March 28, 2025.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said, “Our thoughts remain with the family of Huxley Sayle at this incredibly difficult time. We understand that this is a deeply distressing case for the community.”

The force has pledged to provide further updates as the trial progresses.
