Hove Crown Court has acquitted Hyusein Hyusein, a man from Crawley, of rape charges following a trial. The verdict was delivered on Wednesday, March 27th, after a jury deliberated the evidence presented.

The case stemmed from an incident reported to Sussex Police on Saturday, September 21st, involving a woman who alleged she had been raped in Crawley.

The woman received support from specialist officers throughout the investigation and legal proceedings.

Following the report, Hyusein Hyusein was arrested, charged, and subsequently remanded in custody pending trial.

Detective Sergeant Clare-Louise Anstey, who oversaw the investigation, acknowledged the difficulty of the process for the complainant.

“I would like to thank the young woman in this investigation for reporting to police and supporting the process through to its conclusion,” she stated.

“I know how challenging this has been for her, and she has shown incredible strength and resolve throughout.”

DS Anstey also reiterated the police’s commitment to supporting victims of sexual offences.

“If you are a victim of sexual offending, please report it to us in the confidence we will listen to you, we will support you and we will do everything we can to get you justice,” she emphasized.

The acquittal concludes the legal proceedings against Hyusein Hyusein. No further details of the trial have been released.
