Jonathan Lloyd, 49, of Hainford, Norwich, has been sentenced to an extended prison term of 24 and a half years for the rape and sexual assault of a young man in Milton Keynes, following a Thames Valley Police investigation.

The offences occurred over an eight-year period.

Lloyd was found guilty of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on September 19, 2024, after a nine-day trial at Reading Crown Court.

He was sentenced on Monday, March 24th, 2024.

The court heard that in October 2004, Lloyd raped the victim, who was a teenager at the time, on two separate occasions. Several years later, between 2011 and 2012, Lloyd sexually assaulted the same victim, then in his twenties.

The victim bravely reported these crimes to Thames Valley Police in 2020, leading to a lengthy investigation. Lloyd was charged on April 28, 2022.

Judge at Reading Crown Court handed down an extended sentence of 21 years for the rape convictions, comprising 14 years in custody and a further seven years on license. An additional two years were added for the sexual assault conviction, to run consecutively.

Furthermore, Lloyd received an 18-month consecutive sentence for possession of indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order, relating to offences in 2021, for which he was convicted on August 31, 2024.

This brought the total sentence to 24 and a half years.

Detective Constable Hollie Cromarty of Milton Keynes CID, who led the investigation, praised the victim’s courage in coming forward.

“Jonathan Lloyd carried out horrific sexual attacks on his victim, betraying the trust a young person placed in an adult,” she said.

“I must commend the victim for his immense bravery in coming forward to the police and showing the courage to see this through to a trial and conviction.”

She added, “The sentence imposed reflects the seriousness of the offences Lloyd committed. He continued to maintain his innocence, but the jury saw through his lies. I am pleased that he has finally been brought to justice and will spend an extremely long time in prison.”

Detective Constable Cromarty emphasized the police’s commitment to investigating sexual offences, regardless of the passage of time.

“No matter what the passage of time, we are absolutely committed to investigating sexual offences, and we will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice,” she stated.

She urged anyone who has been a victim of such offences to report them, assuring that Thames Valley Police has specially trained officers to provide support.
