Avon & Somerset Police Officer Under Investigation After Urinating in Taunton Garden

Avon & Somerset Police have launched an investigation after a video circulating on social media appeared to show one of its officers urinating in the front garden of a residential property in Taunton.

The force confirmed that their Professional Standards Department was immediately notified of the incident on Tuesday, following the emergence of the video.

A formal public complaint has also been received.

“We are aware a video has been posted on social media relating to the behaviour of one of our officers within a private garden in Taunton,” a police spokesperson stated.

“Our Professional Standards Department was immediately notified after this was raised with us on Tuesday. A public complaint has been received.”

The officer in question has been identified internally and has provided an initial account of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The force confirmed that the incident occurred in recent days while the officer was on duty.

Avon & Somerset Police have urged the public to refrain from speculation while the internal review is conducted.

“We’d please respectfully ask people do not begin to speculate around the events that led up to this incident while our professional standards review is ongoing,” the spokesperson said.

The force emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct among its officers.

“We expect the highest level of professionalism and diligence from all our officers and staff when on duty and would like to reassure the public this incident is being looked into,” the statement concluded.

The internal investigation will now seek to establish the full facts of the incident and determine any appropriate action.

The outcome of the review will be released once completed.
