A 21-year-old man who travelled from Dubai to Brighton has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexual offences against a teenage girl.

Hamdan Alshamsi booked a luxury hotel room on Brighton’s seafront with the express purpose of committing these crimes, knowing the victim was underage.

The victim, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, was located after an extensive search conducted by Sussex Police.

Officers meticulously searched the seafront and the hotel, ensuring the girl’s safe return to her family.

Alshamsi was apprehended in the hotel’s spa and wellness area. He was subsequently convicted of three counts of sexual activity with a child.

Detective Inspector Sean Booth from the Safeguarding Investigations Unit emphasized the gravity of the offences.

“We take child sexual exploitation extremely seriously,” he stated. “We continue to encourage anyone who has been the victim of child sexual exploitation and sexual offences to come forward and report their experience to us.”

The successful conviction and sentencing followed a thorough investigation by Sussex Police, highlighting their commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and bringing perpetrators to justice.
