A family in Tunstall Street, North Manchester, has been left shaken after their home and car were targeted in a firearms discharge early Tuesday morning.
Greater Manchester Police are now appealing to the public for information following the incident, which occurred at approximately 2:09 am on Tuesday, March 25th.
Police were called to the scene at 6:46 am following reports of criminal damage and a firearms discharge.
Upon arrival, officers discovered several casings outside the address, indicating that shots had been fired. The front window of the house and a vehicle parked nearby sustained damage.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the incident has caused significant distress to the residents.
Detective Inspector Terina Arthern from the North Manchester district emphasized the severity of the situation and the police’s commitment to finding those responsible.
“We know that this incident will cause considerable concern amongst the community, and we have a team of officers working tirelessly to identify those responsible and bring them in to question,” she stated.
“You will likely see additional officers in the area in the coming days whilst we investigate, if you have any questions or concerns, please speak to them.”
The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed or heard the disturbance around 2:09 am on Tuesday to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who may have doorbell, CCTV, or dash cam footage from the Tunstall Street area from that morning.
“No matter how small the information may seem, could be vital to the investigation,” Detective Inspector Arthern added.
“I would also take this opportunity to highlight that the intelligence we receive from members of the public can be of great assistance to our investigation so I would encourage anyone with any information in relation to this type of activity to come forward and speak with police.
Any information will be handled with the utmost discretion and sensitivity.”
