James Quinto, 31, of Kingswood Street, Brighton, has been convicted of multiple counts of sexual abuse against three girls, Lewes Crown Court confirmed on Tuesday, March 25th.

The offences occurred over several years, beginning around 2010, when the victims were between the ages of seven and 18.

The court heard that Quinto, who was as young as 10 years old when he began his campaign of abuse, continued his offences into his 20s.

The investigation began in 2021 when one of the victims reported the abuse to police, revealing that two other women she knew had also been victimized by Quinto.

One of these women alleged that she had been repeatedly raped as a child.

Following the report, Quinto was arrested and charged with a range of offences, including rape of a girl under 13, six counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl, four counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, and one count each of assault by penetration against a girl under 13, and sexual assault.

After a trial at Lewes Crown Court, Quinto was found guilty of six counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl, two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, one count of assault by penetration against a girl under 13, and sexual assault.

He was found not guilty of rape and two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.

Detective Constable Hannah Elmer of Sussex Police praised the victims for their courage.

“James Quinto isolated his young victims, but they have shown incredible strength to come together and ensure he faces justice for his crimes,” she stated. “I would like to thank each of these women for reporting Quinto’s offending and supporting the investigation.”

She also urged any other victims of sexual abuse to come forward, regardless of the time elapsed since the offence.

“If you are a victim of sexual offending, no matter how long ago, please report it to the police. We will listen, we will support you, and we will do everything we can to get you the justice you deserve.”

Quinto is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date, following the completion of pre-sentencing reports.

The time and location of the sentencing will be confirmed in due course.
