Lancashire Police are continuing their urgent search for 80-year-old Brian Fletcher, who went missing after travelling from his home in Bury to the Tockholes area for a walk on Saturday.
An image released by the police shows Brian wearing a tan-coloured cap, blue jumper, and cargo trousers, the clothing he is believed to have been wearing when he disappeared.
Brian, a keen walker and birdwatcher, is familiar with the Tockholes area, including the Higher Roddlesworth Reservoir and Lower Hoddlesworth Reservoir.
Police have deployed a large-scale search operation, involving officers, search dogs, the Mounted branch, and the water search team. Mountain rescue teams from Bolton, Bowland and Pennine, and Rossendale are also assisting in the search, providing crucial expertise and local knowledge.
Brian’s grey Citroen C4 Cactus, registration WP64HSC, was found parked in a layby on the A675, near Tockholes Road.
Police are now appealing for dashcam footage from the A675 Belmont Road, between Abbey Village and Tockholes, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Saturday, as they believe it may hold vital clues.
“Our extensive search for Brian is continuing today,” stated a spokesperson for Lancashire Police.
“We are deeply concerned for his welfare and are utilising all available resources to locate him.”
The police are urging anyone who may have seen Brian or has any information that could assist in their search to come forward.
“Any sightings of Brian, please call 999 immediately,” the spokesperson added.
“If you have dashcam footage from the A675 or any information which could assist us in finding Brian, contact police on 101 – quoting log 1544 of 22nd March 2025.”
The community is asked to remain vigilant and report any potential sightings or information to the police as soon as possible.
