Search continues for missing bird watcher Brian Fletcher at Tockholes Lancashire

Lancashire Constabulary are continuing their search appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of 80-year-old Brian Fletcher, who went missing while walking in the Tockholes area.

Brian, a keen walker and birdwatcher, travelled from his home in Bury to Tockholes on Saturday afternoon.

He is known to frequent the walking routes around Higher Roddlesworth Reservoir and Lower Roddlesworth Reservoir.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage from the A675 Belthorn Road, between Abbey Village and Tockholes, taken between 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025.

Brian’s grey Citroen C4 Cactus, registration WP64HSC, was found parked in a layby on the A675, near Tockholes Road.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw him driving the car in the area, or who has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.

Brian is described as 5ft 8in tall, of slim build, with grey hair, and has a small scar on his face from a recent medical procedure.

“We are deeply concerned for Brian’s welfare,” said a spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary.

“If you believe you have seen him over the weekend in the Tockholes and surrounding areas, please contact us immediately.”

The search for Brian is being conducted by police officers, who are being assisted by Mountain Rescue teams, reflecting the challenging terrain of the area.

Anyone with immediate sightings of Brian is urged to call 999.
