A 44-year-old woman has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found in possession of a significant quantity of cocaine and cash in Lancaster city centre.

Emily Coulton, of no fixed address, was stopped by officers from the Lancaster and Morecambe Urban Task Force on Castle Hill on February 4th.

During the stop, officers discovered 13 wraps of cocaine hidden in Coulton’s clothing.

A subsequent search of a nearby property where she had been staying revealed a substantial amount of evidence of drug dealing activity.

Inside Coulton’s room, officers found £6,465 in cash, digital weighing scales, numerous snap bags, and a pot containing a snap bag of white powder, all located in a cupboard.

A bedside drawer contained a further quantity of white tablets and £530 in cash.

Coulton appeared at Preston Crown Court on Friday, March 21st, where she pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.

She was subsequently sentenced to four years imprisonment. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the seized cash and the destruction of the drugs.

Sgt. Will Nelson of the Lancaster and Morecambe Urban Task Force, commented on the successful operation, stating,

“This operation was conducted in response to community concerns raised in the Marsh area of Lancaster about drug dealing activity.

We hope it provides reassurance to the law-abiding public that we are listening and will take action against those disrupting the lives of people around them.”

The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the local police force to combat drug-related crime and address community concerns in the Lancaster area.
