Escaped Prisoner Jamie Cooper Charged and Remanded in Custody

Jamie Cooper, 33, who escaped from a GEOAmey prison van on the M55 near Preston last Wednesday, has been charged with escaping from lawful custody.

The arrest, which occurred in Blackburn, brings to a close a multi-day search following Cooper’s escape on March 19th at 8:54 am.

Cooper absconded while being transported from Blackpool custody to Lancaster Magistrates Court in a GEOAmey van.

The incident triggered an immediate response from law enforcement, leading to a widespread search.

Following his arrest in Blackburn, Cooper has been remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court tomorrow, March 24th, to face the charge of escaping from lawful custody.
