Preston commuters faced significant disruption this afternoon after a serious road traffic collision forced the closure of a major route into the city centre.
New Hall Lane has been cordoned off, impacting traffic flow from the junction with London Road to the junction with St. Mary’s Street.
Emergency services responded to the incident, and a cordon remains in place as investigators work at the scene.
Three individuals has been transported to hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
“We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on New Hall Lane, from the Jct with London road to the Jct with ST Mary’s Street in Preston,” authorities confirmed in a statement.
“The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and we anticipate this will be closed for some time.”
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and allow extra time for their journeys.
The closure is expected to cause delays, particularly during peak afternoon traffic.
Authorities have thanked the public for their patience and have pledged to provide updates as soon as the road is cleared.
