Following a spate of vehicle thefts and attempted thefts in the early hours of January, Lancashire Police have charged two teenagers in connection with the crimes.
A 17-year-old from Preston and a 15-year-old from Blackpool are now facing multiple charges and are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
The arrests were made by the Fylde Rural Task Force after the two individuals travelled to Warton and allegedly engaged in a series of criminal activities targeting vehicles.
The police investigation, which has been ongoing since January, has now resulted in formal charges.
“We are pleased to announce that our investigation has led to charges against two individuals involved in the vehicle thefts in Warton,” stated a spokesperson for the Fylde Rural Task Force.
“These arrests demonstrate our commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of our communities.”
The police have reiterated their strong message to anyone considering travelling to the Fylde area to commit crimes.
“Let this serve as a clear warning,” the spokesperson added. “We are vigilant and will pursue all avenues to bring offenders to justice.
If you think you can come to Fylde and commit crime, think again.”
The specific charges against the two teenagers have not been released, but they are expected to be detailed during their court appearance.
Local residents have expressed relief at the news of the charges, with many taking to social media to commend the police for their swift action. The incident had caused concern among residents, highlighting the vulnerability of vehicles left unattended overnight.
The Fylde Rural Task Force continues to urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. They also advise vehicle owners to take preventative measures, such as ensuring vehicles are locked and secure, and to remove any valuable items from view.
The two teenagers are due to appear in court later this month. Further updates will be provided as the legal proceedings unfold.
