Lancashire Constabulary has released a new image of escaped prisoner Jamie Cooper as the search intensifies.
Cooper, 33, absconded from a GEOAmey prison transport van on Wednesday morning, prompting a widespread manhunt.
The incident occurred at 8:54 am on March 19th, when Cooper escaped from the vehicle while it was travelling on the M55 near junction 2, close to Catforth, en route from Blackpool custody to Lancaster Magistrates Court.
The newly released image shows Cooper being escorted from police custody into the GEOAmey van, providing a clearer view of his attire and appearance at the time of his escape.
Authorities have confirmed that the last confirmed sighting of Cooper was in Blackpool in the early hours of Thursday morning. Additionally, there have been reported sightings in Preston and Bolton on Wednesday afternoon.
Cooper, who hails from Blackpool, is described as a man of medium build, 5ft 7in tall, with short, cropped hair. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a blue coat, blue jeans, and black trainers.
“As our search for Cooper continues, we want to reassure you that we are committed to finding Cooper and bringing him to justice,” stated a spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary.
“We have a dedicated team of both uniformed officers and detectives searching for Cooper and running an investigation.
You may see them out and about as they continue to conduct these enquiries and if you have any concerns or information, please do approach them.”
The police have emphasized that Cooper has connections to both Bolton and Blackpool, and are urging residents in those areas to remain vigilant.
“If you see Cooper, do not approach him, but call 999 and let us know straight away,” the spokesperson warned.
Anyone with information that could aid in the search for Jamie Cooper is urged to contact Lancashire Constabulary on 101, quoting log number 0237 of March 19th.
