A fatal collision on the M60 in Salford last night has resulted in the death of a man in his 60s and left several others injured, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 20th, 2025, following reports of a serious road traffic collision on the anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 15 and 16.
The incident involved a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) with a white cab and blue trailer, which is believed to have lost control, colliding with two vehicles on its carriageway.
The HGV then crossed over into the opposing carriageway, colliding with a further two vehicles before coming to a stop on the verge.
Tragically, the driver of one of the impacted vehicles, a man in his 60s, sustained fatal injuries.
A woman in her 20s suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, and several other individuals sustained minor injuries.
GMP have confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation.
The collision has caused significant disruption, with closures remaining in place as officers conduct their investigations.
Drivers are advised to check travel updates before planning their journeys.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now leading the investigation and is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
