In an appalling breach of public trust, Darnell McCollins, 24, of Eaton, London, has been jailed after sexually assaulting two teenage girls outside Stafford Crown Court, where he was already on trial for a separate offence.

The brazen assaults occurred on June 3rd of last year as McCollins approached the two girls, engaging them in conversation before demanding their personal details.

He then proceeded to sexually touch both victims, making repeated advances until they managed to escape and report the incident.

Staffordshire Police swiftly launched an investigation, arresting McCollins the following day.

Despite denying the offences during questioning, the tireless efforts of the Child Protection Team (CPT) resulted in overwhelming evidence against him.

McCollins ultimately pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a female at an earlier hearing.

On March 11th, at Cannock Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to 23 weeks imprisonment to run consecutively to his existing sentence.

He was also placed on the Sex Offender’s Register for seven years, issued a restraining order against his victims, and ordered to pay £604 in costs.

Detective Inspector Emma Roach of the CPT expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, stating,

“I’m pleased that we were able to gather the evidence needed to convict McCollins of his crimes and to support the survivors as much as possible.

We’re determined to deliver justice for victims of sexual crimes in Staffordshire and to act robustly against those responsible.”

This shocking incident has ignited public outrage and raised serious questions about security measures surrounding court proceedings.

Staffordshire Police urge any victims of sexual offenses to come forward and report incidents by calling 101 or utilizing the Live Chat function on their website.
