Elderly Woman Robbed After Visiting Bolton Post Office

Bolton residents are being urged to come forward with information after an 85-year-old woman was robbed of her handbag while walking home on Monday, March 10th.

The incident occurred after the victim visited the post office on Bury Road at approximately 10:00 AM. As she walked along Forton Avenue, near its junction with Breightmet Drive, she was approached by an individual who forcibly took her bag.

Police believe the suspect had followed the woman from the post office.

Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene, running back up Forton Avenue before turning onto Ribble Avenue and crossing a field on Garstang Way.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing to the public for assistance.

They have released images of a person they wish to speak to in connection with the robbery, believing they may have crucial information.

“We are deeply concerned by this incident, which has left an elderly and vulnerable member of our community distressed,” stated a GMP spokesperson.

“We are committed to identifying and apprehending the person responsible.”

Officers are urging local residents to review any CCTV or doorbell footage from the vicinity of Forton Avenue, Ribble Avenue, and Garstang Way from around 10:00 AM on Monday, March 10th.
