A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and robbery following an incident in Hornsea this morning, Thursday, March 20th.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 32-year-old man sustained serious injuries during the alleged altercation.
Humberside Police received a call from a concerned member of the public at approximately 9:00 AM, reporting a disturbance at a property on Ashcourt Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a man had allegedly entered the residence and engaged in an altercation with the 32-year-old resident.
According to reports, the altercation resulted in the 32-year-old man suffering injuries to his face and body. The suspect then allegedly threatened the victim and forced him to leave the property, walking with him to a shop on Cliff Road.
Police officers were swiftly deployed to the scene, where they arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of kidnap and robbery. The 32-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are currently described as serious.
Detective Inspector Mark Hawley addressed the community, stating,
“I understand an incident of this nature will be concerning for the local community; however, I would like to offer my reassurance that a man remains in our custody whilst investigations continue.”
He added, “From our enquiries carried out so far, we believe this incident to be between people known to each other.”
Residents in the area can expect to see an increased police presence as officers conduct their investigations.
Detective Inspector Hawley encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident, or may have video footage or witnessed anything, to please contact us on 101, quoting log 106 of 20 March,” he said.
