Lancashire Police are on the hunt for 33-year-old Jamie Cooper, who took “early release” to a whole new level this morning, absconding from a GEOAmey prison van on the M55 near Catforth.

At approximately 8:54 AM, Cooper, en route to Lancaster Magistrates Court, decided the journey wasn’t to his liking and made a swift exit near junction 2.

Described as 5ft 7in with a medium build and short, cropped hair, he was last seen sporting a stylish ensemble of a blue coat, blue jeans, and black trainers – perhaps an attempt at blending in with the general motorway traffic.

“We understand that this may cause some concern,” stated a Lancashire Police spokesperson,

“but we want to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are rare.”

Cooper, who has connections to both Blackpool and Bolton, is now the star of an impromptu game of hide-and-seek, with Lancashire Police taking the role of enthusiastic seekers.

“We have increased our presence in the area, and you will see more officers conducting thorough searches,” the spokesperson added.

Don’t be shy; if you have any information, or just want to discuss the weather, feel free to approach them.

Police are urging the public to keep their eyes peeled. “If you see Jamie Cooper, please do not approach him,” warned the spokesperson. “Instead, dial 999 immediately and let us know.

Anyone with information that could assist in Cooper’s capture is asked to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting log 0237 of 19th March. Or, if you’re feeling particularly dramatic, you could always try shouting his name really loudly while driving down the M55, but we wouldn’t recommend it.
