The incident occurred on Yardley Road, near the junction with Florence Road, shortly before 7 pm on Tuesday, March 19th.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
West Midlands Police have confirmed that the marked police car was responding to an emergency 999 call at the time of the collision.
The call related to reports of a man carrying knives on Warwick Road in Acocks Green.
“The family of the man who died is being supported, and we are liaising with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC),” a spokesperson for West Midlands Police stated.
“The two officers in the vehicle were not hurt.”
