Bolton town centre saw a significant emergency response today after a man was reported to be on the roof of a building on Cannon Street.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the scene at approximately 11:45 am, with emergency services swiftly attending.
A cordon was established around the area to ensure public safety and to allow responders to manage the situation.
“At around 11.45am today, we were called to reports of a man on the roof of a building on Cannon Street, in Bolton,” a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated.
“Emergency services are in attendance and a cordon is currently in place.”
The incident caused some disruption in the immediate vicinity, with traffic and pedestrian movement affected.
Authorities have expressed their gratitude to the local community for their cooperation and patience during the ongoing operation.
“We would like to thank local people for their patience as this work is carried out,” the police statement added.
Details regarding the man’s identity and the reasons for his presence on the roof have not yet been released.
