Firefighters in Lancashire recently tackled a grass fire that was started on purpose and quickly spread.

This incident has led to warnings about the upcoming wildfire season.

The fire service is reminding people to be careful and take steps to prevent fires, especially as the weather gets warmer and drier.

They’ve issued the following advice:

* Don’t use disposable barbecues on moorland or grassland.

* Avoid smoking on moorland, and always put out cigarettes completely.

* Never throw cigarette butts from car windows.

* Take all litter home, as bottles can cause fires in sunlight.

The fire service is asking everyone to help protect Lancashire by being responsible and following these simple safety rules.
