Burnley Taskforce officers have arrested a driver after he was caught driving erratically on Burnham Gate, subsequently blowing a staggering 122 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in custody.
The legal limit in England and Wales is 35 micrograms.
Officers observed the vehicle being driven in a “very poor manner” and pulled the driver over. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
He was immediately arrested on suspicion of drink driving and other driving offences.
The driver, who has not been named, was taken into custody where he provided the breathalyser reading of 122. He will remain in police custody and be dealt with through the appropriate legal channels.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
Lancashire Police are using this incident to reiterate their strong stance against drink and drug driving. They are urging the public to be responsible and to never get behind the wheel while under the influence.
