A murder investigation has been launched in Sheffield following the death of a man who suffered suspected stab wounds.
Police were called to a property on Barlow Drive in the early hours of Sunday, March 16th, 2025.
South Yorkshire Police responded to a call from the ambulance service at approximately 3:00 AM, reporting a man found inside a residence with severe injuries.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specialist officers.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
Two crime scenes have been established: one on Barlow Drive, the location of the incident, and another on Rivelin Valley Road, specifically around the Roscoe Plantation Allotments, as investigators conduct their enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Hodgman, the Senior Investigating Officer, addressed the community, stating,
“We realise this will come as a shock to the local community, and I would like to reassure them that we have a team of detectives working at pace to piece together the circumstances of what happened during the early hours of this morning.”
She added that the local Neighbourhood Policing Team will increase patrols in the area in the coming days, encouraging residents to speak with officers if they have any concerns.
“I want to thank the local community for their cooperation while we remain at the scene,” she said.
