Morecambe Fire Station crews took their training to a new level this week, conducting a realistic breathing apparatus drill off-site to enhance their search and rescue capabilities.

During their drill night, firefighters simulated a fire within a commercial unit, facing the challenge of an unknown number of casualties trapped inside.

The scenario demanded rapid deployment and efficient teamwork, putting their skills to the test.

Two breathing apparatus (BA) teams were dispatched into the simulated hazardous environment, tasked with navigating the smoke-filled unit and locating potential victims.

The exercise focused on refining their search and rescue techniques, ensuring they are prepared for the unpredictable nature of real-life emergencies.

The fire station expressed their gratitude to Bay Garden Machinery and Firefighter Lyden for generously providing their facilities for the training exercise.

“Training in different venues is crucial for our crews,” stated a spokesperson for Morecambe Fire Station.

“It allows us to experience a variety of layouts and challenges, better preparing us for any type of incident we might encounter.

We are incredibly thankful to Bay Garden Machinery and Firefighter Lyden for their support in making this valuable training possible.”

The drill highlighted the importance of continuous training and the dedication of Morecambe’s firefighters in maintaining their readiness to protect the community.
