A 51-year-old man is in custody following a fatal stabbing incident in Coventry yesterday afternoon, West Midlands Police have confirmed.
Officers responded to a call just before 2 pm on Saturday March 15th, to an address on Newcombe Road, where they discovered two men suffering from severe stab wounds.
Tragically, a man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man, also in his 50s, was found with potentially life-changing facial injuries and was immediately transported to hospital for treatment.
A 51-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
“A scene is still in place as we carry out forensic examinations and other enquiries,” a police spokesperson stated.
“Officers will be carrying out additional patrols in the area to reassure and support the local community over the coming days, and we urge anyone with concerns or information to contact us.”
Residents in the Newcombe Road area can expect an increased police presence as the investigation continues.
West Midlands Police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.
