Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Whalley Range Double Stabbing

A 56-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and criminal damage following a violent incident in Whalley Range, south Manchester.

David Alder (DOB: 12/10/1968), of no fixed abode (NFA), was arrested in connection with a double stabbing that occurred on Cambridge Avenue on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Two women, aged 51 and 25, sustained serious, though not life-threatening, injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident has shocked the local community, with residents expressing concern over the violent nature of the attack.

Alder has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Greater Manchester Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
