Early Morning Fire Erupts on Wilbraham Road, South Manchester

Emergency services responded to a significant fire on Wilbraham Road in South Manchester early this morning, Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) were called to the scene at approximately 4:15 AM following reports of a large fire.

A GMP spokesperson stated, “At around 4.15am this morning (Saturday 15 March 2025), we were called to reports of a large fire on Wilbraham Road in South Manchester.

Officers attended the scene along with colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported and the fire has been put out.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”

GMFRS confirmed that the incident involved a fire on the ground floor of a detached property on Wilbraham Road, Chorlton.

“Just before 4am on Saturday 15 March, crews were called to reports of a fire at a home on Wilbraham Road, Chorlton.

Three fire engines from Withington, Sale and Moss Side stations quickly attended the incident, which involved a fire on the ground floor of a detached property.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

GMFRS crews remain in attendance.”

The quick response from firefighters prevented the fire from spreading further, and thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
