Carnforth fire crews faced a frustrating delay last week when responding to a fire in the open, as irresponsible parking blocked their access.

Firefighters were forced to abandon their engine and proceed on foot to reach the location of the blaze.

The incident highlights the critical importance of responsible parking, particularly in areas where emergency vehicles may need to pass.

According to Carnforth Fire Station, the delay caused by the obstructed access could have had serious consequences, potentially allowing the fire to spread further.

“Every second counts in an emergency,” a spokesperson for the fire station stated.

“When people park inconsiderately, they are putting lives at risk. We urge everyone to think before they park and ensure there is always enough space for fire engines and other emergency vehicles to get through.”

The fire station issued a clear reminder to the public:

* Park Responsibly: Be mindful of where you park and ensure you are not blocking access for emergency vehicles.

* Leave Enough Space: Always leave ample room for fire engines and other large vehicles to pass.

* Think Before You Park: Consider the potential consequences of your parking choices in an emergency.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vital role the public plays in ensuring emergency services can respond effectively.
