Longridge residents are reeling after a brazen ram-raid burglary early this morning saw a JCB digger used to smash into a shopfront on Berry Lane, resulting in the theft of a cash machine.
Lancashire Police were called to the scene shortly before 3am on Thursday, March 14th, following reports of the dramatic incident. Upon arrival, officers found significant damage to the shop’s facade, consistent with the use of heavy machinery.
“We received reports of a JCB digger being driven into the storefront, and that a cash machine had been stolen,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
“An investigation is now underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.”
The incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing concern over the audacity of the crime. Residents reported hearing loud noises in the early hours of the morning, followed by the sound of the digger being driven away.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and any available footage that could assist with their investigation.
They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who saw the JCB digger in the area in the lead-up to the burglary.
