Commuters faced significant delays on the M6 northbound this morning due to a collision forced the closure of three lanes between Junction 30 (M61) and Junction 31 (A59 Preston New Road, Samlesbury).
The incident, which occurred earlier today, resulted in lanes one, two, and three of the four-lane carriageway being closed to traffic.
This closure has caused substantial congestion, with traffic moving slowly as emergency services work at the scene.

Details regarding the number of vehicles involved and any potential injuries are currently limited. However, traffic management teams are on-site, working to clear the debris and reopen the lanes as quickly as possible.
“We are experiencing severe delays on the M6 northbound due to a crash between Junction 30 and 31,” a spokesperson from Highways England stated.
“Three lanes are currently closed, and we advise motorists to seek alternative routes where possible or allow extra time for their journey.”
Motorists travelling in the area are urged to exercise caution and follow diversions put in place. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Local authorities are advising drivers to check traffic conditions before travelling and to consider using alternative routes to avoid the congestion.
Drivers are also reminded to remain patient and allow emergency services to carry out their work safely.
