Detectives are appealing for information following a serious disturbance in Kirkby during the early hours of Wednesday, March 12th, which left two teenage boys injured.
Merseyside Police were called to Beattock Close in the Tower Hill area at approximately 2:45 am after reports of a disturbance involving a group of youths.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two boys, aged 13 and 15, with injuries believed to have been inflicted by a bladed weapon.
Both boys were subsequently arrested on suspicion of Section 18 causing Grievous Bodily Harm. They are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
In connection with the incident, a 32-year-old woman from Maghull has been arrested on suspicion of Affray and Possession of an offensive weapon.
She is currently in police custody for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wayment stated,
“This appears to have been a targeted attack and we are working hard to establish the circumstances.
If you live locally and saw or heard anything, please come forward.” He urged residents to check CCTV, dashcam, and doorbell footage, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing despite the arrests.
Knowsley Superintendent Karl Baldwin acknowledged the community’s concern, stating,
“Incidents of such a violent nature have no place in Kirkby or anywhere in Merseyside.
We are acutely aware of the harm caused by people carrying and using weapons, and I want to reiterate that investigating and reducing such incidents is an absolute priority for Merseyside Police.”
Superintendent Baldwin also addressed the issue of young people being out late at night, appealing to parents and guardians to take responsibility for their children’s whereabouts.
“Please ensure that you know the whereabouts of young people, to help us ensure they are not putting themselves and others in potentially harmful situations, as we saw last night,” he said.
Police have increased their presence in the area to gather information and reassure residents.
They are encouraging anyone with information to come forward, either by speaking to officers on patrol or by contacting the police through official channels.
“Our officers will be in the area today to speak to those who live and work in the area. If you know something, please tell the officers so that we can find those involved and keep the community safe,” Superintendent Baldwin added.
