Two teenage boys have been arrested following early morning warrants conducted by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in South Manchester today.

The arrests are in connection with a series of incidents involving teenagers armed with machetes and zombie knives, who were involved in violent disorder across the area.

The two boys, aged 15 and 16, were apprehended on suspicion of wounding and are currently in police custody for questioning.

The warrants were executed as part of an ongoing investigation into multiple incidents of violent disorder involving bladed weapons over the past four months.

While the incidents caused significant alarm within the community, authorities have confirmed that thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported.

Detective Inspector John Robb, of the City of Manchester South district, emphasized the seriousness of the investigation and the commitment of the police to ensuring public safety.

“Our team has been investigating a series of machete incidents in South Manchester over the last four months,” he stated.

“These arrests today are an excellent result, but our work does not stop there. We will continue our efforts to investigate these crimes and bring those responsible to justice.”

In response to the community’s concerns, GMP has increased patrols throughout South Manchester.

Detective Inspector Robb encouraged residents to engage with the officers.

“Extra patrols will be in place across South Manchester. If you see any of our officers, please feel free to speak to them as they are there to help,” he said.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Residents with suspicions of criminal activity are encouraged to contact GMP on 101.

Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website at http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

The arrests mark a significant step in GMP’s efforts to address the issue of youth violence and weapon-related crime in the area.
