Police warn against sharing harrowing footage of Brutal Ribbleton Assault

Preston residents are shocked after a violent assault this morning left a dog walker, a man in his 50s with life-threatening injuries.

Police have confirmed they are investigating an attempted murder following the incident on Lagden Drive, close to Moor Nook Primary School and Ribbleton Health Clinic.

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 6:15 am on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, after reports of a serious assault.

Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, who had sustained severe injuries. He was immediately transported to hospital for urgent treatment.

A man in his 30s was apprehended at the scene and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody.

Lancashire Constabulary has issued an urgent appeal for information, particularly regarding videos of the incident that are circulating on social media.

“We have become aware that there are videos of certain aspects of this incident circulating on social media,” a spokesperson said.

“If you or anyone you know have access to the videos, we ask you not to share them widely but to submit them to us to help with our enquiries.”

Authorities are also urging anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information related to the incident to come forward.

The proximity of the assault to Moor Nook Primary School has caused significant concern amongst parents and local residents.

The police have reassured the public that they are conducting a thorough investigation and have increased patrols in the area, the school will remain closed throughout Wednesday.

A man was swiftly arrested after officers deployed a taser and with assistance from members of the public who stepped in to restrain the suspect. He remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder confirm the force.
