A woman in her 70s is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Oldham on Sunday, March 10th, 2025.
Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Officers were called to Manchester Street at approximately 10:50 am following reports of a collision between a brown Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian.
It is believed the Corsa, after traveling along King Street, turned onto Manchester Street and collided with the woman as she was crossing the road.
The elderly woman sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, a 24-year-old woman, stopped at the scene.
She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, interviewed, and later released on bail.
GMP’s SCIU is now urging anyone who witnessed the collision or who possesses dashcam or doorbell footage of the incident to come forward.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this collision, or who has any dashcam or doorbell footage, to please get in touch,” said a spokesperson for the SCIU.
“Your information could be vital in helping us to establish the full circumstances of this incident.”
