Firefighters from Bamber Bridge and Penwortham swiftly responded to a domestic fire on Chapel Lane, Longton, on Sunday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred at 13:55, involved a tumble dryer within a residential property.

Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where crews found a fire actively burning within the building. Using two hose reels and four breathing apparatus, firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze.

To ensure the property was safe, a positive pressure ventilation fan was employed to clear smoke, and a gas monitor was used to detect any hazardous gases.

The fire was contained to the tumble dryer, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the home.

Firefighters remained on scene for approximately one hour and twenty-five minutes, ensuring the area was safe and secure before departing.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service remind residents of the importance of regularly cleaning lint filters in tumble dryers to prevent potential fire hazards.

They also advise against leaving tumble dryers running unattended.
