A murder investigation is underway in Talbot Green after a 40-year-old woman was fatally shot on Sunday evening.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
South Wales Police were called to the Green Park area of Talbot Green at 6:10 pm on March 9th following reports of a shooting. Officers and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service attended the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered a 40-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 42-year-old man, from Talbot Green, was swiftly arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently being held by police for questioning.
In the aftermath of the incident, multiple crime scenes have been established in the area. Road closures remain in place as forensic teams and detectives gather evidence and conduct thorough enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Detective Chief Inspector James Morris, who is leading the investigation, addressed the local community, saying, “I understand the concern this will cause the local community, and I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives are already working at pace to piece together the events of last night.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information that may assist their investigation to come forward.
Residents are being asked to avoid the affected areas while the investigation continues.
