Ripon is reeling following a shocking incident on Sunday evening, where a teenage boy was deliberately run over and then further assaulted, prompting an urgent police appeal for witnesses and footage.
The incident occurred on King Edward Road at approximately 8:05 PM on March 9, 2025.
A blue Volkswagen Polo reportedly mounted the kerb and struck the teenage victim, causing a severe leg injury.
While the boy lay injured on the ground, he was allegedly subjected to a further assault, with authorities believing he may have been struck with a weapon.
The victim was swiftly transported to hospital by ambulance, where he received emergency treatment for a broken ankle.
North Yorkshire Police immediately launched an extensive investigation, leading to the arrest of two individuals on suspicion of attempted murder: a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy. Both remain in police custody for questioning.
As part of their investigation, police have seized the blue VW Polo, as well as another vehicle linked to the suspects, for forensic examination.
