A significant fire broke out at a residential property on Wellington Road, Preston, prompting a large-scale response from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service late last night.
At approximately 21:45, emergency services were alerted to the blaze, requiring a substantial deployment of resources.
Five fire engines from Preston, Penwortham, Longridge, and Blackpool were dispatched to the scene, alongside aerial ladder platforms from Blackpool, Preston, and Hyndburn, each accompanied by support pump vehicles.
Firefighters faced a challenging situation upon arrival, necessitating the use of extensive equipment to combat the flames.
Crews donned six breathing apparatus to navigate the smoke-filled building, utilizing three hose reel jets to tackle the fire directly.
Two thermal imaging cameras were employed to locate hotspots and ensure thorough extinguishment. A smoke curtain was also deployed to contain the spread of smoke within the property.
To ventilate the building and clear the smoke, two positive pressure ventilation fans were utilized.
A 10.5-meter ladder was also employed, likely to gain access to higher levels of the property or to provide an elevated vantage point for firefighting efforts.
The rapid and coordinated response from multiple fire stations underscores the severity of the incident. While the extent of the damage to the property is still being assessed, the swift action of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading further.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Further details will be released as they become available. No injuries have been reported at this time.
