Accrington residents are seeing a concerted effort to combat drug-related crime, with local police intercepting over £100,000 worth of cannabis destined for the town’s streets.

The drugs, illegally imported from Thailand and the USA, were seized over the past three months as part of an ongoing operation to disrupt the supply chain.

The Accrington Neighbourhood Policing Team, in collaboration with partner agencies, has ramped up its efforts in response to community concerns about the harmful impact of drug dealing.

Officers regularly engage with residents, and tackling drug crime has been identified as a top priority.

“We know drug dealing causes serious harm to our communities, bringing more crime and misery to those involved,” a police spokesperson stated.

“As neighbourhood officers, we regularly speak to residents, and tackling drug-related crime remains a top priority.”

The recent operation saw a significant development on Thursday, March 6th, when a 43-year-old man from Huncoat was arrested on suspicion of importing and supplying cannabis.

He has since been released under investigation while further inquiries are conducted.

This arrest highlights the proactive approach of the Accrington police in targeting those involved in the illegal drug trade.

The police have emphasized their commitment to continuing these operations and disrupting the supply of drugs within the community.

“This is part of our ongoing efforts to disrupt drug supply in the area,” the spokesperson added.

“We will continue to target those involved in drug dealing, and we rely on your help to identify where this activity is happening.”

The police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug dealing.

Community support is crucial in their efforts to make Accrington a safer place.

The operation, branded #OpWarrior, underscores the dedication of the local police to addressing community concerns and taking decisive action against drug crime.

Residents are encouraged to continue working with the police to maintain a safer environment for everyone.
