Liverpool city centre was the scene of a devastating collision last night, leaving a young man fighting for his life.

A pedestrian, in his 20s, suffered critical injuries after being struck by a single-decker Arriva bus near the Empire Theatre on Lime Street.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 11pm on Saturday, March 8th, following reports of the horrific incident.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw it or who may have captured anything on dashcam or other devices.”

Lime Street was initially closed as officers conducted their investigation, but the road has since reopened.

Authorities are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“Enquiries are ongoing to find out exactly what happened and how this collision occurred. If you have any information, please get in touch,” Inspector McHugh urged.
